About Us

Wheatland Conservation and Wildlife Association is a local chapter of the Alberta Fish and Game Association, formed in 1994 in Strathmore, Alberta by local hunting enthusiasts

Over the years, we’ve worked with various groups and members of the community, providing education that aims to help others learn how to care for and restore the habitats in the surrounding environment.

Our Projects

  • We’ve worked with Partners in Habitat on many environmental projects, including planting 125,000 trees.
  • In an effort to support local goose populations, we build and place goose nests throughout the area.
  • We’ve created duck tunnels in partnership with Delta Waterfowl.
  • By working with the Town of Strathmore, we were able to buy two docks that were installed in the Kinsmen Lake in the city.
  • We support the annual Ducks Unlimited fundraiser.
  • The WCWA has partnered with surrounding farmers to secure land for habitats.
  • Our organization works with Alberta Fish and Game Association, taking part in discussions of future changes in policy and game management.
  • Currently, we release around 600 pheasants annually.
